Dear People of the Earth,
My first unit in biology was Ecology. During Ecology, we learned about
various things: habitats, global warming, Al Gore, and water. Nothing was more interesting than water. The Earth has
given us the single best gift in the world: water. Water created us and propelled our civilization forward. However, in recent
years our ideas of needs have been clouded and our wants have skyrocketed. During all of the change our wants have shifted
from basic needs such as water, food, air,... to materialism such as money, cars, clothes... And during all of that we have
neglected our Earth, shoving everything aside just to attain what we wanted. We took nature for granted, expecting it to always
be there and supply us with whatever we needed. However, we have exhausted all of its resources by living in the moment
and using everything frugally. Now, we are faced with the greatest problem of our generation: we are running out of resources
and making the Earth unsuitable for human existence. However by educating others of the importance of Earth and teaching conservation,
we can mitigate the effects our past and lead a more sustainable future. In the pages of this website, I hope to give you
a general background of water, explain the causes that threaten our water supply, and supply solutions to alleviate the
problem.
To me, water is not just the thing that pours out of my faucets, but
it is symbol of how beautiful and fragile Earth can be.
Sincerely,
Angela
